Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I know if Lehigh Magnetic Imaging Center participates in
    my health insurance plan?
    • Lehigh Magnetic Imaging Center accepts most major health insurances. Please refer to a list of participating health plans. If you are unsure about coverage for your study, please call your insurance company or speak to one of our Billing Representatives. You may reach our Billing Office at 610.740.0400.

If Lehigh Magnetic Imaging Center does not participate in your insurance plan, we will still perform your study and will bill your insurance as a courtesy. However, we request payment at the time of service because your insurance company will pay you directly.

  • What is an Explanation of Benefits (EOB)?
    • An Explanation of Benefits is the primary communication between you and your health insurer. It provides detailed information on the total amount that the medical facility billed, benefits that were approved and the amount paid by the insurer. It also highlights any amount owed by you.

  • Why didn't my insurance plan pay in full for my study?
    • Your bill may not have been paid in full because your plan may have a deductible, co-insurance or co-payment. Your study may have been denied because your insurance requires information on coordination of benefits from the subscriber. Your study may also be denied because of a pre-existing condition or the study is considered not medically necessary. Please refer to your explanation of benefits provided by your insurer for further explanation.

  • What are Deductibles, Co-Insurance, Co-Payments and
    Non-Covered Services (Subscriber Responsibility)?
    • These are terms to describe ways in which a health insurer and the patient share in the cost of health care. Lehigh Magnetic Imaging Center is required to collect deductibles, co-insurance, co-payments and amounts due for non-covered services.

Deductible: Deductible is an annual expense which the subscriber must pay before the insurance benefit begins. For example, for a plan with a $500 annual deductible, the patient is responsible for the first $500 in medical bills, after which the insurance generally pays any cost.

Co-payment or Co-pay: Co-payment is a fixed dollar amount the subscriber pays for certain services, typically doctor visits and prescriptions.

Co-insurance: Co-insurance is the percentage of the total bill that is the subscriber's responsibility after the deductible has been met.

Non-covered service: Non-covered service is generally a service that does not meet the insurance company's policy guidelines and will not be paid. If your insurance plan does not approve your imaging study, you will be responsible for payment should you decide to proceed with services. Payment will be requested at the time of your visit or upon receipt of denial from your insurance plan.

  • Do you bill secondary insurance?
    • We want to help ensure you receive full benefits from your insurance plan. You can assist us by providing complete insurance information when scheduling your study, and proof of insurance at the time of your appointment. As a service to you, we will submit secondary claims along with required explanation of benefits to your insurance provider. However, if your insurance provider doesn't make payment within 60 days, we will ask you to pay the amount owed.

  • What if I can't pay the amount I owe in full?
    • We are happy to discuss payment options with you. Partial payments made toward your balance will stop collection activity only if you have made payment arrangements with us. Please call our Billing Office at 610.740.0400 to make arrangements.

  • How can I pay my bill?
